This is an image of my grandfather's World War I draft registration card created sometime in 1918.
Do you think I wrote down the source of the picture. Nah. I am learning fast the importance of documenting your information when you get the information. Fortunately, I'm also learning ways to save the documentation, such as files on my computer that I can easily go back to and retrieve frequently used sources.
I'm pretty sure this came from Ancestry Library Edition, and I will go back to verify this.
I loved finding this because it was the first source that gave me a glimpse into my grandfather's physical description. He and my grandmother passed away before I was born, so I never met them. I know I have pictures of my grandmother in my boxes, but don't remember seeing many of my grandfather.
I also found registration cards for my grandfather's brothers, one of whom has a leg two inches shorter than the other. Interesting! How did he cope with that?
My grandfather's eyes were blue. So were my dad's. So are mine.
My grandfather's build was stout. So was my dad's. So am...well, you get the picture. Who needs DNA testing?!
